I have found that my body hurts more, especially when I’ve had to use my hip muscles a lot, like shoveling, going up and down stairs more than two or three times.

Have others with fibromyalgia experienced falls?

Yes, you're definitely not alone in experiencing falls. A MyFibroTeam member shared that they've had multiple falls in the last six months, with two requiring emergency room visits for stitches. Falls are actually a recognized risk for people with fibromyalgia.

The dizziness, knee issues, and back problems you're describing are common fibromyalgia symptoms that can absolutely contribute to falls. It's frustrating and scary when your body doesn't cooperate the way it used to.

Here are some things that might help reduce fall risk:

- Consider using assistive devices like a cane when you're feeling particularly dizzy or unstable
- Remove tripping hazards from your home (loose rugs, clutter)
- Install grab bars in the bathroom
- Wear supportive, non-slip footwear
- Move slowly when changing positions, especially when standing up
- Keep a phone nearby in case you need help

It's completely understandable to feel angry about losing the ability to do activities you once enjoyed. Many members express similar frustrations about how fibromyalgia has changed their lives. If your falls are frequent, it's worth discussing with your doctor to see if there are treatments or therapies that might help with the dizziness and stability issues.
