Did anyone get diagnosed in their teens and drop out of college, and what job routes do people take?
hey everyone, im not sure if anyone got diagnosed from young but im 19 and in my last year of sixth form which i can mainly do 1-2 days a week if im lucky, ive also had to quit my part time job in retail ive had since 15 because of this. I was wondering what job routes people with fibromyalgia go down? Im not sure what i want to do as it is but now my options feel even more limited..? I was diagnosed at 21, but experienced symptoms since my late teens. I am in my senior year of University. I am studying to teach health and may pursue a master in social work or counseling. I took some gap years before my official diagnosis due to the severity of my pains. I am still in pain much of the time but have found some medication and ways to manage. I think the career path you choose will have to depend on what is asked of you and what your worst symptoms are. Some degrees require a lot of in person attendance so if thats not possible at the time I would find online programs. If being too active is hard for you I would avoid active careers. Most schools have disability offices that can help accommodate you for some issues. Don’t give up on pursuing education all together if that is what you desire.
