Is bursitis common with fibromyalgia?
While bursitis isn't specifically mentioned as a common symptom among MyFibroTeam members, fibromyalgia does cause widespread muscle and joint pain that can sometimes be confused with other conditions.
The most commonly reported symptoms among members include:
* Muscle pain, cramps, and spasms
* Joint pain and stiffness
* Widespread aching and tender points throughout the body
* Pain that can feel like a sting during activity or rest
Fibromyalgia affects how your central nervous system processes pain signals, making nerves extra-sensitive. This can cause pain from even light touch and create tender points in various areas of the body.
If you're experiencing localized joint pain or swelling that feels different from your typical fibromyalgia symptoms, it's worth discussing with your rheumatologist. They can help determine whether you're dealing with a fibromyalgia flare-up or if there's another issue like bursitis that needs separate treatment.
