Why do the bones in my feet, ankles, and hands hurt, and why am I feeling cold with fibromyalgia?

Joint and bone pain in the hands, feet, and ankles is a common fibromyalgia symptom. Many people with fibro experience widespread pain that affects these smaller joints and extremities, making even simple tasks challenging.

Feeling cold is also frequently reported with fibromyalgia. Your body's temperature regulation can be affected, causing you to feel chilled even when others around you are comfortable. Some members describe sweating in cold weather while others feel freezing in normal temperatures.

When you're feeling sick on top of your usual fibro symptoms, it can make everything worse. Pain often intensifies during illness, and your body needs extra rest to cope with both the infection and your chronic condition.

Here's what might help:
- Keep your hands and feet warm with gloves, warm socks, or heating pads
- Rest as much as possible while you're sick
- Stay hydrated
- Consider gentle movement when you're able, as it can sometimes help with circulation

If your symptoms are significantly different from your usual fibromyalgia pattern or getting worse, it's worth checking in with your doctor to make sure nothing else needs attention.
