While opioids and narcotics aren’t preferable, NSAIDs are not intended for long term use, and can damage your liver and perhaps your kidneys. There are no other options in controlling pain. Unfortunately, the habit forming drugs have been taken away from chronic pain patients without any studies to support that denial of pain meds as a strategy for people who are allergic to NSAIDs and those who have a chronic, incurable condition is worthwhile. I know two people who chose death preferable to never ending pain. I think the no opioids/narcotics is killing people.

I went through a series of ketamine infusions about 2 years ago and then a few every few months, but it is very expensive, $6,000 for the first infusions. It helped lower pain so much that I could travel and do some hiking. I can no longer afford it. If anyone knows of way to get it paid for, please let me know. Insurance and Medicare do not cover it. Thanks
