Members helped clarify the distinction between chronic daily pain and a fibromyalgia flare, explaining that while baseline pain might hover around a 7 or 8 out of 10, a flare occurs when pain suddenly intensifies to unbearable levels (10-12), often triggered by stress, physical activity, weather changes, or illness. Several members described their personal flare experiences, including feeling unable to move from bed, needing help to walk, experiencing high fevers, migraines, and full-body burning sensations that force complete rest. A recurring theme was the community's warmth in reassuring the original poster that no question is stupid, with members emphasizing that learning from each other's experiences helps everyone better understand and navigate this unpredictable condition.

You have chronic pain and everyday it’s the same pain Right. Your numbers are say 7, 8,9. An 8 on average
But then you wake up and you can’t even breathe it hurts so bad the pain stays like that for a week 10-11-12 ? Just different but more then average
That’s a flare
When you are thankful you only hurt so much
Yes I know that’s just dumb. It might take years to settle into an average

Take a bad pain day and multiple it. Thats when you know its a flare and so many things can trigger it, stress, too much exercise or not the right kind, illness, etc. I hurt every day too but when its a flare, I am in bed and no one can get me out.

I have burning sensations or aches almost every day, but they are subtle, maybe a 2-3 on the scale. A flare is when I am experiencing deep aches and burning everywhere to the point my body MUST rest. Like right now I feel sensations throughout my body and my arms etch have light aches, but there are days where I just lay in a fetal position that is a flare for me. What I feel now is a great day !
