Members connected over their experiences with severely itchy scalps that led to picking, scabbing, and bleeding, with many tracing the issue to fibromyalgia, psoriatic arthritis, eczema, or paraesthesia that feels like something crawling on the skin. Several members shared practical strategies that helped them find relief, including tea tree oil or zinc-based shampoos, washing and blow-drying hair every other day, coconut oil overnight treatments, glycolic acid applied before shampooing, and taking medications like Lyrica for intense itching episodes. A recurring theme was the importance of seeing a dermatologist for proper diagnosis, experimenting with different products to find what works for your body, and recognizing that common advice like washing hair less frequently can sometimes make symptoms worse rather than better.

Maybe you’re washing your hair too much ? . Like irritating the skin, can you use a dry shampoo in between washes.
Just a thought 💭 .
Some medicated shampoos can have a adverse reaction.
Go to a herbal shop and ask
Maybe a aloe Vera one might suit . x

Yes, my scalp gets so itchy and very dry, which I never had before Fibro. I use hydrating shampoo and conditioner. I don't get dandruff, but if I rub my scalp, it can resemble a snowstorm! ❄️🌨 🤣.

I'm like wRen2, suffer with paraesthesia too! Hi wRen2 👋
But I also get nerve pain on my scalp, similar to shingles..

Yes ma’am.
I get itching all over due to paraesthesia, feels like something is crawling all over.

I do get and itchy and painful scalp. Use to wake up with blood under my nails.

Turns out it may be scalp psoriasis. Although aside from being painful, itchy, and red there are no signs of psoriasis. Go figure 🤷‍♀️
