Members shared their experiences with muscle relaxers for pain and muscle tension, with Robaxin (methocarbamol) and cyclobenzaprine being the most commonly mentioned medications, though many noted significant drowsiness and next-day grogginess as frustrating side effects. Several members offered non-pharmaceutical alternatives that have worked for them, including hot baths, heating pads, massages, and particularly cacao powder mixed with hot water and stevia, which one member described as rich in magnesium and surprisingly effective without the side effects of prescription options. A recurring theme was the importance of finding what works for your own body, experimenting with dosages and timing, and balancing pain relief with quality of life, especially for those sensitive to medications or concerned about dependency.

All muscle relaxers make me too tired even the next day but I am considering going back on tiazidine if my pain gets worse. If I do take it I'm going to try to take the least amount possible. I am very sensitive to prescriptions or any drugs. I do remember that it took away my stamina and made me weak and I'm in my seventies and I don't need less stamina.

PS. You'll definitely have to use some kind of sweetener, hopefully stevia instead of cane sugar. I'm not sure if it's going to help the cramps if you use cane sugar or anything else that is inflammatory.

@A MyFibroTeam Member @A MyFibroTeam Member and everyone if you're open to it. Drink hot cacao (not cocoa) at night....I have found that drinking hot cacao at night with stevia.. I don't mind stevia. I make sure there's no sugar alcohols in it. Anyway cacao has a lot of minerals in it including a lot of magnesium and that really relaxes me. In fact I was sure I was going to get some cramps last night while sleeping because of eating some products with cane sugar yesterday which cause a problem for me but I didn't have the cramps! Anyway give it a try. ..Just a suggestion if you don't want to use muscle relaxers. The cacao powder works better for me than taking magnesium. I still get cramps taking any kind of magnesium and I've tried every kind.
