Members opened up about experiencing strong social anxiety alongside fibromyalgia, describing symptoms like sweating, shaking, feeling overwhelmed in crowds, and avoiding stores or public spaces altogether. Several members shared practical coping strategies, including shopping during less crowded times, using apps or lists to stay focused, shopping online through Amazon or having groceries delivered, carrying fidget items, chewing gum, requesting wheelchair assistance, and practicing breathing exercises or prayer before heading out. A recurring theme was the dual burden of managing physical exhaustion from fibromyalgia while also fighting anxiety and overstimulation, with many members expressing the importance of listening to your body, giving yourself grace, and finding strength in pushing through despite the discomfort.

I like shopping I like to go places where there is a scooter available. What wears me out is some acquaintances who want to talk and talk and talk and talk. It is too much stimulation and I have problems with my vocal cords.

I don't feel comfortable in large groups and shopping in big stores. I always chew gum when I shop. It seems to relax me a bit. I go to a small market and Walgreens to do my shopping. It's not so overwhelming and they're much easier to navigate for my shakey legs. Amazon is my favorite way of shopping nowadays. I can sit quietly and browse and it's delivered to my door. It's a blessing for me. It seems we have to fight so many feelings we have inside of us, but we can't let it stop us from doing things. It makes you stronger and gives you a sense of pride that you fought your feelings and did it anyway. It might get easier each time. We can only hope. We sure have a lot to deal with, don't we? Hang in there! Hope it all gets better. Sending you a gentle, but strong hug.

I do as well. I have to force myself to do things. One of the hardest things fibro has given me. I use to love shopping now I dread it. I barely socialize anymore.

Hello, it happens to me all the time. The panic attacks are so bad. I sweat, shake and stutter. I try to avoid crowded places but that's not always doable.
