Members widely confirmed experiencing pain and tenderness at the crown or top of the head as a common fibromyalgia symptom, with many describing sensations ranging from throbbing and pressure to feeling like the scalp is bruised or wearing a too-tight cap. Several members shared practical strategies that have brought relief, including using a handheld massager on sore areas, applying ice packs to reduce pressure, keeping hair short to minimize pulling on sensitive roots, and limiting hairdressing activities. A recurring theme was the unpredictable nature of scalp pain, often worsening with stress, physical exertion, or even something as routine as showering, where water can feel like needles on tender skin.

Yes, but my scalp is less tender now that my hair is short, less drag on the hair root.

Yes, I have it a lot. I use a little hand massager and roll it around the sore area, even tho it hurts to do so, but it helps the tightness. Then I put an ice pack on for awhile. It relieves the pressure.
