Members shared diverse approaches to managing holiday treats while living with chronic conditions, with strategies ranging from complete avoidance of sugar and sweets due to pain triggers to mindful indulgence in small portions. Several members offered practical tips including eating slowly to feel satisfied with less, letting chocolate melt in the mouth instead of chewing, pairing sweets with coffee to moderate blood sugar impact, substituting with healthier options like roasted pumpkin seeds or baked apples with cinnamon, and using sugar alternatives like allulose for those managing diabetes. A recurring theme was the importance of self-compassion and balance, with many members acknowledging that while some must strictly avoid certain foods for medical reasons, others choose to allow occasional treats without guilt, recognizing that everyone's body, condition severity, and relationship with food is different.

I have a real sweet tooth so find it difficult to totally give sugar up.
Cake is my kryptonite, I have tried to ask my local shop to stop selling it, but for some reason they are not allowed to do this 😜
That being said, I believe that we should not deprive ourselves, unless for medical reasons, of the things we enjoy as long as we moderate it and eat a healthy diet most of the time 🫂

If your having chocolate don't chew it let it melt in your mouth you will get the sweetness quicker and won't eat as much or feel sicky from eating to much chocolate ,hope that helps

Since I lost weight from when I was sick. I am trying to keep it off. Being diabetic, there are a few things I crave and I have them. I don't overindulge..just a cookie here or there and monitor my blood sugar. I would prefer a piece of candy to a slice of cake. I don't even know if I will make cookies this year since Michael is on keto. I enjoy doing it, but, don't really have anyone to give them to.
