Members shared their experiences navigating the disability application process for fibromyalgia, with many describing multiple denials and waiting periods ranging from six months to eight years before finally being approved. Several members emphasized the importance of working with a specialized disability attorney, thoroughly documenting all conditions (including depression, anxiety, and other comorbidities), keeping detailed medical records, and persistently appealing denials without giving up. A recurring theme was the emotional and physical toll of the process itself, balanced by encouragement to stay strong, lean on faith, and remember that most applicants are denied initially but can still win their case with persistence and proper documentation.

Get attorney that specializes in disability and only gets paid when you do. Save all paperwork from doctors if possible. List all things wrong w health on there.Helps to have letter from Dr stating the disability if possible. My attorney says it takes 2 years to get 1st hearing. Most are denied 1st time. Keep filing!! Don't give up!! He said it helps if you don't work cuz shows you can't. Good luck!

Yes plus other things. Make sure you list all things wrong like depression, anxiety, sciatica. Whatever it may be. It took me 2 years for a hearing which lawyer says is how they do it. Then got awarded first time had check in a month.

@A MyFibroTeam Member can you explain the Canadian disability thing here? I'm trying to find out if my husband's income would disqualify me from being able to apply here.
