Yes it is. It has been proven that if someone in your bloodline has it, it increases the chances for someone else to develop it. However, not a guarantee. Just like diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, etc

I agree with you, am sure you can get it from someone in your family, but have also heard that it can be triggered by something tramatic that your body has gone through. For me, looking back at my mom and the aches and pains that she went through certainly could have been Fibro back then,but they didn;t know what to call it. But for me the main trigger came almost 8 yrs aga after having radiation treatments to get rid of cancerous poluyps in my uterous then my Fibro/chronic fatigue has gotten worse after finding a Hiatal hernia and a hole in my heart that they figure I was born with but never knew I had it (it was patched up with no more problems like that) but my fibro/chronic fatigue has increased. I go through a lot of fibro flares that are not pleasant at all. It feels like my body is one big "charley horse",with very achy and stiff muscles and joints.

Yes, I think the tendency to have fibromyalgia is handed down through families. My older sister had fibromyalgia that doctors here locally didn't know what it was....she had to go to a bigger city to a doctor to get a diagnosis....back then it was call fibrositis or something like that. I was diagnosed in 2000, but can remember symptoms from way back when I was a little girl...I always heard that you might have it and not know it, but some kind of trauma, sickness or otherwise can cause full-blown symptoms to come on a person immediately.....for me, it was having pneumonia in early 2000....after that it was downhill all the way until I got a diagnosis....aging also doesn't help fibro sufferers....I am 80 yrs old and feel like I'm going down further and further every day....so much pain, headache constantly, ....oh, so many symptoms....

I hear it can be but not always, nobody in my family has fibro except me , I suspect I got it from being over active and probably from extreme heavy physical exertion also mental stress .🤷🏻‍♂️
