Any age but usually adults.
I believe I got mine from my prior marriage. I was physically abused for 3 years. I was able to move on after my divorce, get a college degree, and begin my career with my son. After I remarried, I experienced a traumatic event, it was more like a nervous breakdown, and since then, symptoms increased through time and here I am. I've asked my mother if anyone in her family has ever complained of such pain, she said not that she was aware of.
Everything I have studied says it is not hereditary, most get it from trauma to the body or trauma from mental. I was in an abusive marriage, once I had children I had to run with my kids. The divorce was extremly emotiional plus I was in a car wreck that flipped the car leaving it on its top. I think all of this caused mine. It developed about 6 yrs. after my divorce.
My 90 year old Mom was diagnosed last year. I've read that it IS hereditary. I have a few members of my family, who don't believe I'm sick, that I would like to see get it!!! Oops bad me.
Nobody in my immediate family has it,, only me...Bummer...๐ณ I also have sjogrens and no one else in my family has that either...๐ถ๐
