Members rallied around the painful topic of calf spasms tied to fibromyalgia, sharing both empathy and practical tips for relief. Several members found magnesium helpful, with some preferring topical magnesium foam or DIY magnesium chloride soaks over oral supplements, while others credited a magnesium and potassium combination or daily electrolytes with stopping spasms altogether. A recurring theme was the danger of jumping out of bed during a spasm, along with a helpful PT stretch of lying flat and pulling toes toward your head to release tension in the calves.

Yup, my calves are almost always my most painful muscles. Topical magnesium makes a huge difference (I try to use it before bed and first thing in the morning). Theraworx brand foam works the best for me (but you can also just dissolve magnesium chloride flakes in warm water and make your own for cheaper, it just tends to sting if you use it on freshly shaved skin since it's a salt). I take an oral magnesium supplement too but I haven't seen much of a difference since starting it, topical magnesium is much more effective for me. I hope you can find some relief.
