I'm going to be a bridesmaid at my best friend's wedding in early May and I wanted to wear some wedge heels I have (about 3 inches tall), but my calves were killing me after only wearing them for a short amount of time (my fibro pain is worst in my calves). The heels used to be decently comfortable, but I haven't worn heels at all in years. Does anyone have any tips/work arounds to make it work, or do you think I need to give up my vanity and get some flats instead? I would hate to be in too… read more
Thank you for the advice everyone! I'll start shopping for some flats.
If I know I will be seated for most of an event I will wear my favorite heals. My pain is mostly in my feet after wearing them. If I’m needing to stand longer than expected I will try to stand at a tall bar table and shift my weight from one leg to the other now and then while I have a hand or arm resting on the table. If I start to become uncomfortable I will focus on breathing to take my mind of it so I can enjoy the event. When I’m in the wedding, party so much is going on and no matter what I do, I might have trouble at the end of the day just stepping back into my car to go home. When this happened once my friends and I just laughed, we had danced so much that we all walked slowly to the car, but when I stood there laughing they laughed with me and encouraged me until I could step into the car. If your calf muscles aren’t able to behave when you are wearing your wedges for a trial run, and any height shoe works with the hemline of your outfit, maybe purchase cute flats or kitten heels as back up shoes to wear when your not taking photos. If you can tolerate the wedges for photos that might be a good compromise for the event. Hope it’s fun and hope you have low pain!
I totally can’t wear heels anymore. So sad. I got rid of them 🙁
I don’t wear heels. I wear wedges. Good bless
Better to go comfortable.
I'm sure your bride doesn't want you in pain either.
As someone who used to love heels of all sorts (still do!)
There are some very cute flats out there now. My one sister has never worn heels at all.
Or there are boots, lots of super cute sneakers out now too. Go comfy so you can enjoy yourself and partake I your friends special day!
It's always nice to get dressed up but beauty doesn't have to be pain and I'm sure you'll look fabulous no matter what!
