Duloxetine Possible A UK Thing
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone tried this? Was given it on Wednesday to start for pain as its the new fibro medication apparently although my pain isn't fibro related at the moment but as nothing else is working and additive this is the best way forward.

I guess for some people it works good for other it is a nightmare so we just have to try things to see what works for us. Evelyn

Yes, I was on deloxitine for several years. It was started slow in small amounts, & slowly used until I felt relief. Eventually, I had to add other drugs with it, to get relief (gabapentin). I'm currently off all drugs, using only vitamins & doing just as well as when on 3 drugs. Just B, C, D3, magnesium, CoQ10, and E.

Yes duloxetine (Cymbalta) is one of the three FDA approved drugs for fibro in the US. It is not addictive but if you go off it, you must wean slowly as you can get serotonin discontinuation syndrome if you stop it suddenly. It’s not life threatening but very unpleasant. It’s not true withdrawal and not dangerous though. I took duloxetine years ago when I didn’t yet have fibro but had migraines and severe pelvic pain and it did help at least the nerve related pelvic pain moderately (when practically nothing else did). It helped my anxiety and depression too. Was on it for years but eventually I felt the effects gave out and I had to switch. I think it’s definitely worth a try! 😁💕

Beenfab, just thought I would add that I had nausea for 3 weeks when I started taking Duloxetine. Then it stopped and I have never had it since. Don't get put off by that, it is a known side effect x
