Cape Cod

I have been going thru it lately with low energy and depression, resulting in too much sleep. Last nite, I slept about 12 hours, but not straight thru. Any hints on not doing this? Yes, I take meds, including Cymbalta. Yes, I have a therapist.

Members connected over the struggle of oversleeping due to chronic pain, depression, and medication side effects, with many sharing that they also sleep 10 to 12 hours or more, especially during flares, and wake up exhausted or stiff. Several members offered gentle advice, including establishing a consistent wake-up routine, taking magnesium or vitamin D supplements to improve sleep quality, and considering whether Seasonal Affective Disorder might be contributing to fatigue. A recurring theme was the importance of listening to your body without guilt, resting when needed as part of managing the condition, and balancing self-compassion with the awareness that too much sleep can sometimes increase stiffness.

Don’t stress yourself further; as my rheumatologist said, “if you have to rest, take it easy and relax.” We have to manage our condition as best we can.
