I also suffer from scoliosis and ankylosis in my back.
I would get another opinion or two for sure and then decide.
I had surgery on my cervical spine for numerous reasons. I had a very good surgeon, I trusted him. He even does surgery on doctors, that is how good he is. My neck is still sore. But compared to what it was I would do the surgery again. Just an FYI you will have a very sore throat afterwards. I basically ate some noodles, maybe mashed potatoes would work too. So that was my experience, good luck to you. Prayers
I'm in the same decision making. I have tried everything including injections. My doctor and surgeon recommended surgery most people I know are for it. My father is highly discouraging it not sure why. I feel like I should and now I'm leaning towards getting it done. Best to do what you feel comfortable with. I don't want to do this necessarily, but I have to do this for neck pain relief.
I am seeing my pain management doc and a neurologist, plus my primary care. But I am so nervous about it. All I've heard throughout my life is avoid back surgery. IDK...
