Had it for a year. The intensity of the pain fluctuated throughout the day. There was no redness, nothing to be seen just feeling the burning. I had my dentist check my mouth. Didn’t see anything. I avoided spicy, hot food, alcohol, anything that can further irritate it. Used alcohol free mouthwash, bioteen toothpaste, multivitamin supplements. Lasted for a year. Super uncomfortable. This was about 10 years ago, it didn’t return so far.

I saw one post on treatment with drinking large amounts of stinging nettle tea. 💜

Hi Kristen

Yes last year one day I was ok and the next day I was so thirsty and my mouth was dry and burning. I was up in the night getting drinks and sucking sweets to take the dryness off but nothing worked. I went to my GP and asked her if I had started with diabetes , so she did blood tests on me and they came back ok. Then I started with massive ulcers under my tongue and then my throat started being sore and the next thing my jaw started hurting. Then I had earache. My doctor always want to check it out at the hospital so she isn't missing anything. So I went to the hospital and they put a camera up my nose and down into my throat and it was clear from anything bad.

But after this I had a dentist appointment and I couldn't bare him to touch my teeth they hurt that much. So he sent me to the hospital to see the facial specialist who also did blood tests and said he couldn't find anything but my iron levels were low.

But apart from that I knew then it was Fibro that was attacking my mouth. I don't know anybody else that has had this but my dentist has seen it before with people with Fibro.

So then I looked on the Fibro UK and yes it is one of the symptoms. After six months of suffering with my mouth it is now better, but still get a dry mouth.

Hope this helps

Love Karen and look after yourself best you can x

The problem with gabapentin is it makes you even more drymouthed so I wake up at say 4 am . Every night . I’m having a biopsy at the hospital on my tongue soon to find out more . I am nearly 60 so menopausal women get it as well
