Temperature Regulation Part Of Fibromyalgia Or Something Else??
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I am usually very warm or sweaty and this can be any time of the day. I always said it was just part of menopause πŸ€”πŸ€”
But I'm curious if it is something more, because I can be burning up but if you touch my skin I'm ice cold πŸ₯ΆπŸ₯Ά
Fibro or menopause or something else????

I feel I need to be in 74Β° or colder year around. Otherwise I don't feel so good. My mom keeps her house at 78Β° and I feel like I can't breath. I need air circulation as well.

I have both fibromyalgia and menopause and I get like that too! Always wondered if it was a bit of both as it has become worst since menopause started.

Combination of both fibro and menopause, but once menopause passes, it will be solely fibro. The part of the body that controls temperature regulation is broken in people who have fibro.

A few years I was going through the same thing and I had a wellness check and I was told a combination of both fibro and menopause. It eventually slowed down and now I don't deal with it so intense as it was before. It was so bad I was getting sore throats a lot and colds because my body temperature was up and down. Now I don't deal with it anymore.

Hypothyroidism can cause those exact symptoms. Of course, Hypothyroidism is common in Fibros, but I'd blame the Hypothyroidism first with Fibro being secondary. Our pituitary glands cause a lot of problems that we don't even realize because the pituitary gland reacts to our stress. Stress can cause enlarged pituitary glands, sometimes mistaken for pituitary adenoma. (Without contrast MRIs, it's hard to see the difference. But it doesn't change symptoms. An enlarged one acts just like an adenoma, but it won't affect your vision like an adenoma.) Anyway, how's your hormone levels? Get them tested if you don't know. Also, lack of exercise cause us to overheat with little exertion which can cause a sudden heating up. Think after surgery when you're starting to get up and about again. Just rolling over can break a sweat when you've been inactive. Try increasing your exercise some. Walk if possible, or do chair exercises if that's all you can do. Anything to get your heart rate up every day. Then increase it as you're able. Good luck!
