Members connected over the question of early menopause in those with fibromyalgia, with many sharing they had hysterectomies in their 30s and 40s due to severe endometriosis, fibroids, or unbearably heavy and painful periods that lasted weeks at a time. Several members described overlapping symptoms that made it difficult to distinguish between fibromyalgia pain and gynecological issues, with some not receiving a fibromyalgia diagnosis until years after their surgeries. A recurring theme was the suspicion of a deeper connection between fibromyalgia and early or complicated menopause, with members expressing hope that future research will validate what many doctors still dismiss or overlook.

I feel like this is one area of health I won the lottery, No Peri-menopause to speak of. One day at 47 I just stopped having a period, I went 13 months had a tiny spotting, then nothing ever again. I am 57. Doctor put me on progesterone for a few years to keep my uterine lining thin and healthy. No side effects from that. I have never even had a hot flash. My mom had a terrible Peri-menopause with months/years of heavy bleeding and emotional hell. Thought I would be in for the same.

I feel really lucky~

Yes,I had a complete hysterectomy at 38. Fibroid tumors haunted me. My periods every month were a blood bath with cramping and so much pain. Best decision of my life. Now at 70, osteoporosis/fibromyalgia is my new health concern. CBD, pain meds and chiropractor visits and my faith in God, are my new best friends. Good luck to all my warriors

Oh definitely a connection! Some doctors actually think there is one.
Yes you read that right!
Only thing is the old school thinkers down play it.

Thank you for all your responses, seems like we all had more than our share of female problems. I hope future research will discover the Fibro connection, if there is one.

My periods were approximately 42 days apart with very heavy flow for at least 10 days. Most times I fainted from the pain and/or possibly loss of blood. Fortunately I was able to carry 2 of my 4 pregnancies to full term.
