I started Cymbalta three and a half weeks ago and it immediately seemed like my pain got worse. It’s a little better since then but still not great. Mentally, I feel better, but physically, I am still hurting. Has anyone had the pain get worse before it was better on Cymbalta?

Members shared mixed experiences with Cymbalta for fibromyalgia pain, with several noting it took about a month to see physical relief while mental health improvements came more quickly. Many members described difficult trials with other medications, especially Gabapentin, which caused severe reactions in some, and expressed concerns about side effects like weight gain with alternatives such as Lyrica. A recurring theme was the frustrating trial-and-error process of finding pain management that works, with members turning to individualized approaches including diet changes, cannabis, kratom, muscle relaxants, and CBD massage when pharmaceuticals fell short.

We each find our own way through this Quagmire of pain.
(quagmire a difficult, precarious, or entrapping position : PREDICAMENT)

Unfortunatly the process of finding our personal solution takes time and many dead ends.
What is legal in your state makes a difference to availability. What you can tolerate and then to make it more challenging, it does not work consistantly.

Sharing ideas and solutions in this group has been beyond priceless. It is a lifeline.

All the pharmaceutical protocols for fibromyalgia are challenging. I too cannot tolerate many of the drugs.
Most do not have an impressive success rate. My doctor went through the trial and error apporach with the different meds. Yep, gained lots of weight. The weight does not magically come off when you stop the meds. Ugh.

My self prescribed plan.
The Whole 30 diet for anti imflamatory
Cannabis and kratom for pain.

From the World Anti-Doping Agency: "The painkiller tramadol will be added to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) list of banned substances on January 1, 2024."
In the 1990s I tried Tramadol for 3 weeks and found it completely useless. The things that assist me in pain management: muscle relaxants, medical massage using CBD oil or cream, and a very occasional prescribed narcotic when the pain gets so bad that there can be no sleep.

Cymbalta helps me mentally and keeps the stiffness away. I still get the flu aches tho. Tramadol helps me with that. But i heard theyre banning it next year!😳

I started Cymbalta before I even got my first sx of fibro (for depression/anxiety in 2018) so maybe I escaped the worst of it? I've personally done pretty well with it in that respect, though I can't comment on its px effectiveness since my fibro related px started later.
