Hi guys,
I thought I would start a thread about how one's fibro started. I was busy thinking the other day how bizarrely mine came on.
I had just finished packing my bag at the beginning of a school day and when I was getting up I was forced back to the ground with a sharp pain. It was since that day that I have been in pain. Initially diagnosed with scheuermanns disease, 3 years later out of desperation and a specialist appointment later, got the fibro diagnosis. But just so strange how one… read more

Emotional trauma over 2 years, one thing after another. I was diagnosed the week I went back to work after FMLA leave. They started with Fibromyalgia and now I'm being treated for RA also but the medicines aren't working. Depression and anxiety have been very up and down.
I was diagnosed with adult Fifth disease roughly 16 yr ago, and took 3 months to recover. A few months later, similar symptoms started, and continued. Took 8 yrs to get the fibro diagnosis.
Hi @A MyFibroTeam Member , totally get that flu-like feeling. In the beginning, the first couple years, it didnt really feel like that but got progressively worse.
I have lost weight since I was diagnosed and am much more cautious about what I put into my body food-wise. Exercise is still a battle but I do go for walks when my injured ankle allows (I felt good in January last year and did some horse riding. fell off and tore ligaments in my ankle which are still giving me problems). And if I put my mind to it I could probably do pilates too.
Hi BexB,
I feel the same way. I just woke up one morning and I thought I had the flu. Problem being 20 years later I still feel sick. I too was overweight on the onset. I have now lost 30 lbs and feel so much better. I can exercise and walk easier🥰
@A MyFibroTeam Member seems like we have a similar story of instant pain. Fit or unfit, at least you were doing exercise before the onset. I was very unfit and very overweight when my fibro came on. I was doing horse riding which I stopped after the pain started.
