Members shared mixed experiences with Cymbalta for fibromyalgia and depression, with many reporting it helped manage both conditions, though some experienced no benefit or had to discontinue due to side effects. Several members emphasized practical warnings, including the necessity of careful weaning to avoid severe withdrawal symptoms like hallucinations and mood swings, temporary initial side effects like sleepiness and nausea, and potential weight gain over time. A recurring theme was that Cymbalta works differently for everyone, with the community encouraging new users to try it while staying aware of their body's response and maintaining open communication with their doctor.

I have been on Cymbalta for many years. I started on it for depression. Then stayed on it caused it helped with the depression and with the fibro when it would rear it ugly head of fatigue. I only had mild intermittent pain. Nothing that Tylenol wouldn’t help. When you’re ready to go off of Cymbalta, you MUST be weaned off. Sudden stopping of medication will result in nasty side effects. When I went without meds, I had auditory and visual hallucinations, mood swings and deep depression.
Now I know to keep enough meds around. Any time the doctor talks about cutting it down, I quickly refuse. I don’t want any of the side effects. She politely agrees.

When you first take cymbalta , it makes you sleepy and nauseous but that’s only temporary.
