Living Alone On SSI & Medicaid Only Anyone?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I would like to hear from anyone in the USA for this question...IF you are living alone on SSI & Medicaid only. What is it like for you, and how do you manage?
Looking forward to hearing reality. Some if us may be facing this.

Stacey,
Thank you for your response. It isn't easy, but you are brave and strong. The Word says that when we are weak, He is strong. May He be strong in you and help us all.
I have fibromyalgia, multiple chemical sensitivities, myalgic encephalomyelitis, asthma and related things. I have not worked full-time since 1994. I have no income and rely on living with and caring for my Mom as best I can. My disabled brother lives here too. My mom and my brother both have autoimmune disease.
May you be blest with some joy and relief.
What is your apartment like?

Am I ever here for you hear back from. So glad that you've asked.
Life is hard, and so major Depressing! Fibromyalgia, and Rheumatoid Arthritis really bad too.
Money is so tight, Everything is tight, and I smoke cigarettes, and marijuana still.
I am 52 NOT employed, haven't worked since 2010. Everything went back to the banks, and here I am... Renting 1 bdrm. Apt. I can work with major medcal limitations, and per the NYS & SSI guidelines, up to 20 hours.
Life would be even more hard if I had not acquired SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, Medical Transportation, and EBB. Sprinkle on a lil bug your family for a ride, or for a lil more Patience as you slow walk to accompany them for family functions, lol.
As you can read, I've been able to maintain benefits offered in upstate NY.
I've managed to not run off all of my Upstate based family, five adult children, and twelve grandchildren. And siblings in the south are still my peeps too lol.

I started out with ssi and medicaid. Which was not enough to live on. I also live alone. I have Diabetes, 43 years and major depression etc. Fibro made everything worse. I applied for disability And did receive it. This is the only way i have enough money to live on. You might want to try for it, As long as a Dr. says you can not work because of it.
