I get very exhausted doing simple tasks such as washing a few dishes or just putting away the laundry. It’s just started a few days ago, but I’ve had FM for 10 yrs now. I used to be able to do more simple chores but now I feel like I can’t even do the minimal tasks. Anyone else feeling this way?

Members responded with deep solidarity to a question about severe exhaustion from simple tasks like washing dishes or putting away laundry, with many describing the same crushing fatigue and the grief that comes with watching their abilities decline. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped them cope, including pacing activities across multiple days, using assistive tools like robotic vacuums and long-handled dusters, enlisting help from family members, outsourcing tasks like laundry, and in one case, switching antidepressants to address worsening fatigue. A recurring theme was the emotional weight of this invisible struggle, with members expressing loneliness, fear about the future, and the importance of self-compassion, rest without guilt, and finding comfort in faith or gratitude practices.

Yes, for some reason my fatigue has been off the charts. I understand what you are talking about. I can't wait to get through whatever task I am doing so I can rest again. Just wish the resting would give us energy. Vicious Circle! Hugs.

I had a few months of being that fatigued but just thought it was my CFS or Fibro acting up. Its not as bad now but i really struggled. I felt better after my anti depressants were changed.

Yes, sometimes it takes me 2 days to clean a room. Just do what you can and make sure you get enough rest.

Stop taking the medication the GPs have been subscribing it's not medicine it's making you worse. Stopped mine 5 years ago and never felt better all you are is a cash cow to Pharmaceutical companies.

As I’ve gotten older it’s harder. We bought the iRobot Roomba, automatic vacuum and the one that washes floors. Use long handle wool duster. I have to pace all cleaning. My husband helps . Does his own laundry now , dishes, etc.
