Members explored which core emotion triggers the worst fibromyalgia flares, with anger emerging as the most common culprit because it causes involuntary muscle tension, stiffness, and energy depletion that many don't realize is happening until the damage is done. Several members identified stress as the underlying thread connecting anger, fear, and even happiness, sharing that work deadlines, cancer-related anxiety, and even joyful social events can all drain energy and intensify pain in different ways. A recurring theme was the challenge of managing emotions in a body that punishes both suppression and expression, with members offering practical strategies like daily symptom journaling, mind-calming activities, and using intuition to distinguish fibro pain from other health concerns.

You are so right, you're caught in that awful feedback loop, when we all question: Is this Fibro or something life threatening? The only thing I can think of is to daily journal symptoms, pain/stress levels and use your intuition. Put some time into mind calming activities to cut the day-to-day stress. Fare thee well! 🎭

This is not an exact answer to your question. For me the stress of having to do more than I'm able with a definite time frame that the tasks have to be done by will cause me a Fibro Flare. So my answer is Emotional Stress.

I agree with stress. So i guess that falls under anger. I used to be angry a lot when I was working and Im medically retired now and have been doing pretty good. Working while having so much pain caused me to be irritated and frustrated.
