Members shared a wide variety of pain relief strategies for fibromyalgia and chronic pain, with heating pads, warm showers, and heated blankets emerging as the most commonly mentioned non-medication approaches, while many also found relief through CBD, marijuana (often combined with THC), tramadol, gabapentin, and muscle relaxers like Flexeril or tizanidine. Several members emphasized practical tools like TENS units, Biofreeze, topical magnesium, supplements such as turmeric and vitamin D, and lifestyle habits including gentle walking, pacing activities, and engaging in hobbies like music, art, or games to manage both physical pain and mental health. A recurring theme was the importance of trial and error to discover what works for each individual body, with members encouraging one another to stay active when possible, give themselves grace on difficult days, and never give up on finding the right combination of treatments.

Topical Magnesium (Theraworx foam is my favorite) works wonders for my muscle pain, it breaks the cycle of tension and allows the constantly tense muscles to relax. It also works great for muscle cramps, stopping them almost instantly. I also find heating pads to be helpful, and ice for places like my wrists when my carpal tunnel acts up too much.
I use marijuana tinctures when the pain gets bad (usually a mix of CBD and THC, since CBD alone isn't enough for me but it balances out the THC so I don't get too high, which is uncomfortable for me). I did find when I was using a CBD tincture every day it lowered my baseline pain, but I partially stopped doing it since it was a bit expensive to maintain. My current favorite tincture is "raw full spectrum THCa" from Papa and Barkley, which is a little pricier than other brands but I found an instant difference, it's a lot more effective as well (THCa is even more anti-inflammatory than CBD and is non-psychoactive, though this tincture does contain some THC as well. THCa is pretty difficult to find so this is the only one I've been able to get). It helps the pain and makes me relaxed rather than uncomfortably high, and I can also still think clearly and don't zone in and out. It only takes about 5-8 drops under the tongue for me to get relief, it's amazing.

I use cbd, marujuana, ibuprofen 600mg. I have oxycodone but it constpates me. I'm 76 and just found out last month while in Michigan marijuana works. So never say never. Oxy causes me to have seizures and I broke my femur above the knee 2 yrs ago and still can't walk alone.

Hot shower helps a little but I sometimes I am in so much pain I just can't get myself out of bed to do it. Experienced lyrica for almost a year and it didn't help me but gave me memory lost. But you have to try everything
you can to learn with what your body react to
