Self Esteem
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I know this isn't fibro related but I'm just wondering if anyone else struggles with self esteem? I've been this way all my life, but at this point in life I just wanted to finally over come it! Any suggestions?

That's a hard one. Self esteem is really getting over the "self" part and loving who you are on the inside. That's not easily done. A therapist is the one to help you work through this, as self esteem is cultivated from your experiences growing up. Hence you've had a gazillion years to feel inadequate so you're going to be very good at it. Remember, change is hard. Also, find uplifting and supportive people to be around. Not your family. There are people out there who will love you for who you are. Find a hobby you enjoy and join a group that involves that.
Don't fret about what other people feel are your short comings. Insecure people tend to look for short comings in others so they don't have to acknowledge their own. It's human nature.
Hope this helps.

You have to have a talk with yourself about what in your life you want and where you want to be. You are better than anyone you know. You hold your head high. If you think people are better than you, guess what they are not. Everyone puts there pants on the same way. It will help you.

When I turned 58 I decided, shit, life's too short. And for the most part decided who gives a shit what other people think. I don't have that kinda time anymore to spend on that. I am what I am. They can either like it or piss off. And do you know who I have to say that the most to? Me!

Hey just wanted to let you know that I was a caregiver all of my life I always wanted to please people and make friends or so called friends who used my Insecurity and used me to suit there needs. I am 55 and just the last couple of years I figured out that I had to stop talking to anyone who stressed me with their negative things that cause me depression. So with that being said I know that God put me on this earth to help people but In a healthy way. Put God first then yourself and each day try not to worry about anything you cannot change. When I am in pain and just don’t feel like getting up I sometimes sit in bed and do my makeup and hair just to make me feel better I also love to journal it helps me write all of my feelings instead of trusting anyone with my life. I went to counseling off and on for a lot of years so I know it helps me. I hope if you have any questions or concerns you can reach out to me. 🤗

well, i believe fighting with a daily condition, losing friends from it, jobs, etc for me really lowered my self esteem.

For me I have to be in an action situation as doing the -self management classes, I listen to motivational speakers like oprah on Sunday Soul?, and I youtube pema chaldron. she is an older budda nun an amazing person.

But everyone has there own ways to pick themselves up. I also really enjoy Joyce Meyers on youtube.

then I do things that I did when I was younger or things I wanted to do in the future, I was always into crafts. so I started sewing and quilting.....i love reading danielle steele books..

I want to try diamond crafting one day. and I would love to try stain glass....

.just find something that is just you.
