Members shared their experiences managing costochondritis pain, with the most common remedies being ibuprofen or naproxen, warm Epsom salt baths, heat pads, topical anti-inflammatory gels like Fenbid, and muscle relaxants like diazepam for severe flares. Several members described the characteristic wrap-around rib cage pain that feels like a tight band, is tender to touch, worsens with walking or deep breathing, and can be frightening especially when coupled with breathlessness, with one member learning their pain was actually damaged intercostal muscles. A recurring theme was the unpredictable nature of flares, which can last anywhere from days to months, often triggered or worsened by stress, fibromyalgia flares, overeating, or even vaccines, with members offering each other gentle hugs, encouragement, and solidarity through the pain.

I think I have it too, and I take Advil. I feel like it’s worse when I’m stressed or fibromyalgia pain is bad too. Hopefully it will get better with time. Also, felt it when I eat too much too.
God bless!

Costocondrites is an awful condition. What I do to help is to go back to the position I was before the pain. Take deep breaths, slowly and sit down. Most of the time it helps. Rest a while before trying to continue with what I was intending to do.
