Heart Disease With Fibromyalgia?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

As if we don't have enough issues, I was Googling today and came across articles which stated that those who have fibro I have a 23% chance of heart failure. I am so anxious now that my heart is beating at 90 Plus beats a minute. Has anyone done their homework on this or is this just another Google search that has put me in a frenzy? I don't mean to scare anyone else, but we need answers! Prayers for you all!

OK- I was Registered Nurse for 42yrs & still follow all the medical info I can learn- especially from news, Dr's & other people.
Lets' think about the heart- it is a muscle, Fibrom affects muscle tissue, so yes, heart can be affected by Fibrom- ( A Cardiologist told me this decades ago )- particularly I think because of it being affected by muscle spasm. We need some medical research on this- if anyone knows how, pls get it started !
I have always been being investigated for Palpitations,( which like headaches, have many causes,) but can have serious imlpications, so should always be investigated.
If you want more info on any of this - let me know & I'll do my best.

Mitral Valve problems can come from normal ageing of heart, & has just been found to run in families. This is what's called Familial- tendency towards it. My Mother & her brothers & Sister all had it- mine is mild, thought to be from normal ageing, but I will be keeping an eye on it.
It can also come from serious infections in childhood, not being treated by anti-biotics- so think " the rural poor ", which my grandparents were.
Mitral Valve prolapse can suddenly become severe, so make sure you have a bracelet & wallet cards & M. Ph & family awareness of details of your condition.
hope some of this info helps.
About passive smoking- Dr's tell me it is no where near as serious as the damage smoking does.
But beware of sitting too much- it is " the new smoking" , so keep as active as you can.

Mom of 11, one thing I have learned about the internet: Whatever one wants to know can be found there, whether true or false.😉 I have certainly had my issues..lol. When it comes to medical issues, I stick to well-known sites; eg The Mayo Clinic. Hope this helps.

I agree with ontherim , and margi-21 i find i have erratic heart rate but fed up of speaking to gp about one thing and another , they said my bp was fine when last tested .
I also think some of the meds we take add to it and the weight gain x

Yes I have had my heart rate beating like I was running a marathon.
Have been in hospital and had Tachycardia had to be tested with a EKG.
Then again I was just visiting a Specialist and the Nurse took my Blood pressure and it went up over 200 she said that it was like running a marathon and I was sitting down at the time.

The Nurse said that I have Tachycardia and should see a Heart Specialist. But I still haven't done that yet at all.
