Thanksgiving recipes.
With Thanksgiving approaching my mind wonders back to the worst recipes I ever experienced
Both my parents were excellent cooks and the holidays were always special.
One year my sister wanted to have oyster stuffing added to the traditional menu. My sister pestered my Mom to the point she relented and allowed her to use the smaller cavity of the turkey for the oyster stuffing.
Saving the larger cavity for my mother’s much loved stuffing.

The very first Thanksgiving I hosted was for my in-laws. The turkey came out perfect looking & was actually delicious and juicy, however, I had forgotten to take out the bag with the neck and the giblets. My mother-in-law discovered it and had to go on and on about it. Boy was I embarrassed. She still brings it up 34 years later. Also, my husband and I had walnut trees in our back yard so we decided to make magic cookie bars. While I used nut crackers, he, being a carpenter, thought he had a better way and used a hammer. I told him his pan would be for his family and my pan for my family. Well as his family was eating this dessert, they found sharp pieces of walnut shell in their bars. He tried to blame me, but I assured them, and profusely apologized, that their son was culprit. And this is always brought up as well.
So funny! First year I made thanksgiving dinner and invited lots of friends too. Somewhere in the day someone turned my oven off. So at dinnertime I had a raw turkey!
The very first dinner I hosted as a newlywed was a disaster.
I was very confident in the kitchen and comfortable hosting my new Chinese and Hawaiian in-laws. I was sensitive to the cultural differences and had planned a meal incorporating all their preferences, plus keeping my family traditions alive.
The table was beautifully set and adorned with candles and fall colors.
I was so ready.
I was preparing to truss the turkey and realized I didn’t have any twine.
After rummaging through our tiny apartment I came across my husband’s tool box.
Ah ha maybe some wire would work.
The guest arrived and I removed a beautiful and perfectly cooked turkey from the oven. I beamed with pride.
When trying to remove the turkey from the pan and placing it on my special Thanksgiving platter, I ran into a terrible problem.
I and inadvertently used
soldering wire and welded the turkey to the pan.
Thanks.
To you as well. Hugs
