Does anyone else automatically go into a flare as soon as anything remotely stressful happens? I can be told something and basically within minutes im in pain etc..
Yes I definitely experience that. I feel tense, sore and in pain most days. But when I am faced with even really small problems, work pressures I get super overwhelmed. Sometimes I feel like my whole body locks and goes into an almost spasm. My arms ache, neck and back really stiff. But I always think it’s a stress response, that in turn creates terrible anxiety. I just don’t know if it is the fybro symptoms of a stress response or both. Really curious to know if others experience this. I was diagnosed just over 12 months ago, but was ill for a couple of years prior to that. I spend thousands on private therapy thinking I was burnt out and just suffering with stress and anxiety. I get confused is this typical of fybro 🤔🤗🙏🏻
Definitely I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2003 & had many bad years, then I had a reprieve for a couple of years then my daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumour & that sent me back to the beginning (she is fine) but every little disaster that comes up sends you back. We have a touring caravan & was just taking it back to storage when someone forced us off the road & forced us into a ditch & we had to get a commercial services to pull out (lift) of ditch. I coped well at the time, but it hits you days later. I have been on amitrytoline & sleeping tablets since 2003 & couldn’t sleep at all without them. Now my husband has been diagnosed with mixed dementia, he isn’t too bad at the moment but I am terrified how I will cope years (hopefully) down the line, as it is going to be a worry when I am knocked out with tablets & he starts to wander through the house. I have a real bad flare up at the moment with bad neck & backpain & headaches, which probably bought on by worrying.
@A MyFibroTeam Member blimey youve had a rough time. I cant remember the last time i wasnt in a flare since being diagnosed in 2015/2016.
Hope you feel better soon x
Hey StacieStan, thank you for your comments. It’s helpful to share experiences, as sometimes I think I’m losing my mind with it all. That really is how it feels, feel stressed and overwhelmed easily and the symptoms just feel like a added tonne of bricks to it all. Of course, not everyday 🙏🏻 Some days are easier than others. It’s like my body has been in a war 🤣 therapy has and does help. It gives me space to talk through emotions, try and feel a little lighter and incorporate some relaxation with a little reiki. I do yoga also and although its tough, it really does help muscle muscle pain/stiffness. My yoga teacher is very spiritual and so she incorporates mindfulness in the practice. It almost becomes like a moving mediation 😃 I feel fortunate to have encountered her in my life. She probably has not idea how much I value the class and her skills.
I’m sorry the last few days have not been good for you 🙏🏻 I hope tomorrow is a better day 🤗 I find meditation sometimes helps to grounded me, when I feel low, anxious and sick. Just taking my mind off how I feel at the moment helps to lessen the feelings a little. Wishing you better days ahead 🙏🏻
Hiya, thanks for all the replies ☺️
LisaLouise, ive been told stress induces symptoms, symptoms then induce stress so its a vicious circle. Do you find the therapy helps?
