I had elevated liver enzymes due to taking to much a acetaminophen for my pain. Once I was sent to a rheumatologist and diagnosed with fibromyalgia I was sent to a neurologist then to pain management and they finally gave me pills for my pain. It is terrible how long we are made to wait with all the different doctors and months in between before we can finally get the help we need. It's a shame that pain medicine was abused so much that its made the people who really need it impossible to get it. Its really sad. Sorry for the rant. If you take a lot of over the counter pain meds. Then yes it would be connected to fibromyalgia. But no fibro does not cause elevated enzymes.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, I do think that I'm also sensitive to some meds as I had a bad reaction to a strong dose of antibiotics and that's when we noticed that my liver enzymes were quite elevated. I've also previously had some nasty side effects from pain meds. Since the reaction to the antibiotics a year ago, I've barely taken any meds, not even pain meds when I slipped down some wet tiled stairs in March and could barely walk, and my liver enzymes are still elevated. They do fluctuate but they are never all within normal range.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, I'm not sure what else I can do to look into the reasons for the elevated liver enzymes. I've had x-rays, ultrasounds, a CT scan & a liver biopsy. I am seeing a Rheumatologist for the first time this coming Friday and hopefully she can come up with an answer.

That is strange. Do you ever wonder about what they call normal? Maybe yours are naturally elevated.

The strange thing is that I've hardly taken any over the counter meds in the last year and my liver enzymes are still high. I've had x-rays, ultrasounds and a CT scan that showed nothing abnormal. I also had a liver biopsy that only showed mild inflammation which the doctor said was probably due to too many meds, but as I said, I've hardly taken anything in the last year.
