Hello
I had an appointment with a Neurologist yesterday and she prescribed Lamictal (Lamotrigine) to manage nerve pain. I have never heard of this drug, especially in relation to pain management. She is one of the top Neurologists in the world, an expert in the field of neuromuscular disorders, so I would think she knows what she’s doing in prescribing this and did note to me that it is a newer drug being prescribed for nerve pain. When I researched it, it’s an anticonvulsant (like Lyrica) and… read more
I rarely prescribe Lamictal for nerve pain. Many other choices that are more effective. Finding LDN is working better with less side effects.
I use Lamictal along with my pain medicinine to calm the anxiety that accompanies a very high pain level. This combination helps me immensely.
Yes I've used it.i think it's one of the best to treat nerve pain.deoending on insurance it can be costly .there's also coupons to use for low copays.ask your prescriber
I don’t know if you saw this study, what it does for pain starts on page 4. It looks like it doesn’t help with pain 🤷🏼♀️ I hate when doctors treat us like lab rats 😟 What would scare me is that she wants your GP to monitor you. Does that mean she knows the side effects are that bad... she is the one using it off label, she should be the one monitoring it. Maybe the GP doesn’t know what to look for when monitoring. Can you tell I don’t trust doctors 🤣

Hi Sis Olga,
Great to see you back. I have been taking Lamictal for years now for my seizures. Thank goodness I have been seizure free for years now. The generic lamotrigine isn't as good as Lamictal. It has more side effects like nausea etc, so if you have any tummy issues, stick with the original Lamictal brand.
Recent studies have shown Lamictal is good for nerve pain and anxiety. Feel free to ask any questions.
