I am being referred to pain management. I would like to know what other people have experienced with pain management, especially if you went through pain management in Missouri. Thank you, for your time.
Our pain clinic is amazing. I was given lots of shots for back and headaches. And offered pain management workshop, yoga, swimming(before covit), etc. So happy for their services.
I have been using a device for about 10 years, as close as I can 24/7. Here is the website: https://www.quellrelief.com
The principle behind it is that it interferes with "Chronic" pain signals all over your body before it reaches your brain. You wear the device/electrodes just below either knee.
I have a large old sock that I cut the foot out of and just use the ankle sleeve to cover that band and device to get great longevity from the electrodes. The company suggests changing the electrodes every 2 weeks which can become expensive. I have stretched that longevity to replacing my electrodes 2-3 times a year, which saves a huge amount of money. Give it time to work. I found that it took about 1 month for me to be convinced that it helps. Now I would not live without it. Sometimes I take a break from wearing it and within a couple of days I know how much it helps because my pain comes exploding back when I stop wearing it.
It does not get rid of the pain 100% but it lessens it a great deal which then allows me to take care of the residual pain through "on the spot" meditation (not sitting quietly in a corner somewhere as people typically associate with meditation).
I highly suggest doing the 10 day silent Vipassana meditation retreat. I had previously tried many other types of meditation, but had never found anything that helped with FM pain. Vipassana is free and available all over the world in many languages, but you will probably want to make a donation when you realise how powerful it is. It teaches you to be hyper in touch with physical experiences in your body. As soon as you become aware of the pain and make the connection that you can do something about it, it mysteriously disappears. It happens as quickly as if you have flipped a light switch. That does not mean that it does not crop up somewhere else, but you then let your focus deal with that new location..... you don't have to do anything except recognise that pain location, and you can do it while you are doing anything else eg. driving talking, working etc..
I have to add though, that without the help of the leg device, the FM pain overwhelms me and I can't get my meditation skill to be as useful. I just want to retreat from the world. It is a pity Covid has shut down Vipassana centres for now, but book when you can. It is difficult to get registered for the 10 day retreats as there is so much demand, even before Covid.
Although it has been born out of Buddhist philosophy, it does not conflict with any other belief system and you don't need to know anything about Buddhism to learn the method.

I'm sorry š„ŗ
The one I go to use to be amazing. Than their staff changed so frequently it became a hot mess. Every three months I go I have a new provider. One month the provdier asked me who prescribed this one med she held up. I said, this ofice. In fact you did.
Yes, I am looking for another provider but with Covid and going in and out of offices having me hesitant I stay there to get my med refilled until I do get someone who is more competant.
The list is longer than what I listed above.
I was so thrilled to finally find someone who understood pain. My pain management director was a gift. He got me through some tough times. When the pain was so bad Iād have a melt down crying in his office, there was no judgement, he was compassionate and sought out solutions.
