Members shared their experiences with Sjögren's syndrome alongside fibromyalgia, describing symptoms including severe dry mouth, dry eyes, dry skin and hair, joint and muscle pain, and worsening IBS, with most diagnoses made through blood work by rheumatologists. Several members emphasized the importance of seeking second or even third opinions when initial doctors dismiss symptoms, with practical suggestions including traveling to major medical centers like Mayo Clinic or starting with virtual appointments to find the right specialist. A recurring theme was the challenge of managing multiple overlapping autoimmune conditions and the persistence required to get proper diagnosis and treatment, balanced with compassion for the daily struggles of severe dryness and skin sensitivity.

Very dry mouth is usually a symptom of Sjögren’s . There’s a saliva test For it and a mouth scraping . It’s many times mixed up as fibro .

Sharon - what about doing a virtual appt with another rheum first then you can see if its worth a trip in person or not? More insurances are starting to cover telemed with covid going on

Sharon , get to a clinic in a major city . Where do you live ? It’s worth it so you won’t mess around , feel supported and get to treated .
I live in Austin , texas , but chose Mayo .Rochester easy , the hotel is attached to the clinic . Wheelchairs all over . Or mayo Jacksonville if closer to you . Well oiled machines ! Insurance paid . Unbelievable # 1 clinic .
