How Do You Feel With Costochondritis?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I ask this because I never have been told I have had this. But I know on here when I talk about these strange random chest pains, a lot of people mention it could be costochondritis. For example right now I have the upper left sided sharp/shock like feeling every now and then the past two days. But that’s my only symptom. No tenderness or any other problem. And I’ve had similar problems in chest, but every test I’ve had always comes back clear. So I’m very curious to see how people feel that do… read more

Sharp pain when trying to take deeper breaths or moving my arm, leaning forward, laying in bed on the painful side. All sharp, very painful, stabbing sensation. Scary.

Mine feels like a clamp in the middle of my chest that goes under my left breast. Hurts to breath and cry if I have to sneeze. Can’t get comfortable sitting or laying down. Comes and goes. If I vacuum it always acts up or lift anything heavy. It’s not as bad as it used to be so I’m lucky. It used to be 24/7.

For me costochondritis affects my chest my ribcage on the front and back, my sternum as well as painful spasms from my shoulder to my chest, this happens in either side as well. Sometimes it can feel like you are having a heart attack, but it is muscular spasms.

Can be painful to breathe at times as well.

Hope this information explains a lot.

Ok, based on those responses, it doesn’t sound like what causes my random chest pain. Thank you for everyone who responded! I really appreciate it.
