I told my husband right away. I didn't even think about it. If he didn't 5hink he could deal with it I would like to find out right away.

I totally understand the concern. It took a long time for my husband to understand what Im going thru and its not easy to explain our condition, and obviously do not want to scare him away. But if honesty is there in your relationship from the getgo, you will save yourself a hearthache if you tell him (slowly) what you may go thru sometimes. Maybe don’t give him the scary parts yet until later when your relationship is much stronger. If he’s really the one for you, then he should stick around to support you. All the best!

The guy I have been seeing already knows that I have fibro! We are very open with each other about our health. We have had a few disscusions about our mental health struggles as well! It feels good to be able to talk about it. But if you are worried just ease into telling your partner. Establish trust and be ready to be open with each other. I wish you the best of luck!

@A MyFibroTeam Member I though the same thing when I was dating my husband but we talked about it at length. His first wife had medical issues also so he understood what he would be dealing with more then most. Turns out he ended up having medical issues too and I was just as much a support to him as he was to me. I was able to identify his issues and talk to his doctors to get him the help he needed because I had had to do so much to get help for myself. He was a bit stubborn at first needing to feel like the strong person in the relationship but in the end I got him help for his sleep apnea which actually saved his life since it was severe and also convinced the doctors to test him for osteoporosis which he had too. He also had asthma and severe allergies which we also got treated. Most people will need medical intervention in their lives. We learn to not ignore symptoms and get treatment early. The point is that if you love someone and they love you, you support each other in all ways and it really does even out in the long run.
