My hair has been falling out since May 3. It started falling out after my 10 day stay in the hospital for a blood clot caused from having COVID-19. Between the 2, I was in bed for 40 days. The virus wiped out my immune system along with my vitamin and minerals, I’m also anemic. My doctor said my hair may keep falling out for several months. She said it’s a combination of the stress of having COVID, the blood clot, a 10 day hospital stay and being anemic. She recommended I start taking biotin but… read more

Members rallied around someone experiencing significant hair loss following a COVID-19 hospitalization, blood clot, and anemia, offering both empathy and practical suggestions. Several members shared their own hair loss experiences from stress, illness, and medications, recommending supplements like biotin, iron, vitamin D, and hair-skin-nails formulas, while also suggesting scalp massage, avoiding heat styling, and using silk pillowcases. A recurring theme was the importance of checking with doctors before starting supplements, considering a dermatologist or specialist visit, and staying positive since recovery can take several months.

My daughter works with a lady that had covid around the same time I did. We had all the same symptoms except she didn’t get a blood clot. My daughter just sent me this post her friend posted about hair loss🙁

I am a cosmetologist and nurse. Definitely get your thyroid and hormone levels checked. They have supplements and formulas like ROGAINE, that stimulates hair growth. Worth a try.

My hair has been falling out super bad too. I went to a dermatologist and had a scalp biopsy. It came back as AlopecIa and TE - stress related. I had that much too fall out. Stop looking at it and stay positive. I now take Biotin, and Mininoxinol but in a pill form. Seems to be helping. Also scalp massage that does not include the hair. Ur scalp should be relaxed and not tight, it should easily move around. Also, do not brush your hair when it’s wet. Wait until it’s pretty much dry. Mine frizzes but I use a light oil by L’Oréal that helps w/that. I also stopped blow drying unless I have to really hurry. I only put a “warm” curling iron on my bangs to get them out of my way. I curl my hair only for special occasions. A silk pillow case also helps but wash it by hand and do not dry it in the dryer. I learned my lesson. Sometimes I put my hair in a light braid at night so it doesn’t get all tangled and I have to deal w/it in the morning.
I hope some of this helps u. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
Yes, iron can make u extremely constipated. My doc recommended a chewable one. I have yet to buy them. I try to eat a lot of spinach. I use extra virgin olive oil on it and himilayan salt on everything. Lots of minerals. Don’t worry about weight w/ the Extra Virgin Olive oil. It will not make u gain weight and will help ur hair and skin. Good luck!❤️

I think your hair loss is due to your health problems you had and the medication. Stay positive and eat healthy. Hopefully it will grow back after your off your meds.
My hair started thinning when I entered menopause.
I had very thick hair. My hair has thinned mostly around my face. My bangs are very thin now. I saw a an add for some bangs that you clip on. Im going to look into that. The back is still pretty thick. I tried biotin too and that didn’t help me at all.
