Rapid, unintended weight loss needs to be investigated by your doctor as soon as possible. Gastroenterologist start with colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, full blood work with this type of issue.
Your age, risk factors, health history, medications and your symptoms can give your doctor a clue how to move forward with testing.
Hope you feel better soon.
I have Ulcerative Colitis, and it does make you loose weight without proper treatment.
Medications for your IBS treatment can help with flares and symptoms. BTW, Remicade and Mesalamine (aka Lialda and other name brands) (at max dose) is what got me into remission for Ulcerative Colitis.
I will tell you that when it came to my medication for Fibromyalgia, Lyrica packed back on the weight and then some. I call my gut the Lyrica belly.
The others are right though. Your GI can posdibly help identify the cause of your weight loss.
Investigate your diet as well. Maybe you are lacking healthy fat. Protein is not enough.
Make sure it’s one of the first things you do when this stay at home gets lifted
Weight loss is a problem for me, too. I was supposed to have a colonoscopy, but can't , b/c of the
virus.
I would make an appointment with a gastro to rules out any internal problems. I would start with a colonoscopy
