Hello All, I'm New Here And Haven't Yet Been Diagnosed. I Am Wondering If The Way I'm Feeling Could Be Fibromyalgia Or Not!

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
Brunswick, OH

Some days I have the widespread pain where it hurts to even put pressure on certain areas of my skin. But other days I'm not in much pain, and instead I get numbness and tingling particularly in my hands, points where I feel like my muscles or something is twitching under my skin, and even times when my hands visibly shake. I also feel really weak when this happens. Could this be fibromyalgia? I see a neurologist in a few weeks but until then I'm worried! Any advice helps...thanks so much!

Members warmly validated someone's concerns about unexplained widespread pain, numbness, tingling, muscle twitching, and hand tremors, with many affirming these symptoms align with fibromyalgia while strongly encouraging a neurologist visit to rule out other conditions like peripheral neuropathy. Several members shared practical advice, including researching fibromyalgia symptoms online to better understand the condition, avoiding excessive internet self-diagnosis to reduce anxiety, and seeking a rheumatologist who takes symptoms seriously rather than dismissing them as anxiety. A recurring theme was the unpredictable nature of fibromyalgia, where symptoms fluctuate daily, and the importance of staying strong through the diagnostic journey while leaning on community support and finding doctors who truly listen.

yes, don't worry till you start to eliminate the serious things - it is not a bad symptom of anything I can think of. good luck & lets know how you go pls.

I get all of those symptoms. It’s good to see the neurologist to rule everything out though. And a lot of doctors tell you anxiety causes this- and it appears to be a factor in Fibro. The Long term activation of the sympathetic nervous system does a number on the body. Might put the nerves into a hyperactive State.

Yes I have found a wonderful suppliment for Peripheral Neuropathy. It's called P. E. A. satnds for Pamitolyethanolamide. it is the natural compound that hepls nerves deal with pain- it also helps all pain espec nerve pain, but when you think about it, all pain is nerve pain - as that is how it is felt.

Sounds like peripheral neuropathy or small nerve fiber neuropathy.

Sorry you are suffering. What you describe seems pretty common among us fibrofighters. I know it is stressful when you do not have answers yet. Stay strong, talk to your doctor and stay away from the internet for self diagnosis. That is the scariest thing we do to ourselves. Gentle hugs
