Has Anyone Here Using LDN Seen A Significant Drop In Their Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) Levels?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I’ve been on Low Dose Naltrexone for about about 3 1/2 months now and still titrating my dose to hopefully find the correct dose for pain relief. I have Hypothyroidism in addition to FMS as I think many of you do. I am on Synthroid at a fairly high dose and in past my TSH level were always maintained in the range of 1.5 or 2. I just had labs done the other day and my TSH has dropped to 0.4, just above the lowest point in the range!! Despite my labs always indicating no Hashimoto’s disease, these… read more

Dear Olga--I have Hashimoto’s and don't have a good story to tell. I'm sorry but it is a negative story that I have to try to make sound positive but that's not a good promise. I went to a Rheumatologist and had the blood work done it seems forever ago--15 years? In 2016, the Endocrinologist told me that my thyroid was dead inside my throat which sounds to disgusting and sort of mycob. The Hashimoto’s killed it.
I have had hot flashes, sweats, and anxiety because of it. Like I've been perimenopausal for over 10 years. That and having fibro - it is difficult to distinguish which is what. My mother had thyroid cancer so I have to be on this and get an ultrasound every once in a while. Maybe you might have to have one? It would be good to check to make sure you aren't developing any cancer.
Rheumatologist have to be the ones to tell you that you have it or the Endocrinologist because primary doctor's don't listen. There is a TSH count that has to be high, i think. Mine was 600 - something like that. I am on generic synthroid. It is not curable, like Fibro. I don't know and hope it is not eating away at anything else!
If I don't take my thyroid meds, it's like I have a sinus infection, I start walking sideways lol

Right, I also have had hypothyroidism for many years, in fact a few years before the FMS symptoms started. I’ve been taking 112mcg of Synthroid for several years and it’s kept my TSH level in the range of 1.5 to 2, never below 1.5. My thyroid has been pretty stable over the years. Since taking the LDN for 3 months my TSH has dropped to 0.4!! To me, that’s astonishing 😮

Thanks for all your replies but has anyone with hypothyroidism (Hashimotos or not) taking LDN seen a dramatic change in their thyroid function? TSH levels dropping significantly?
Thanks 💕💜

Hi Olga, I am on Eltroxin 0,1mg daily. My Thyroid stopped functioning because of Steroids I was prescribed before I was diagnosed with Fibromialgia. About 7 years ago I went for a scan and was told that the Thyroid has destroyed itself. Before that I only used Eltroxin 0,05mg.

Definitely checked all that before starting LDN Victoria. I was told by the prescriber that because LDN up regulates your immune function, if I had Hashimoto hypothyroidism it could affect my thyroid function. Weird thing is, the thyroid antibody tests my GP ran show I am below the range for Hashimotos, so no autoimmune hypothyroidism, just hypothyroidism of unknown cause. The reduction in my TSH is astonishing to me! This means LDN could definitely work to treat Hashimotos and hypothyroidism. I will definitely have to lower my thyroid meds in time if I continue with the LDN.

Have a good weekend 🤗🤗💕💕
