Have always had bad sleep and tiredness with the fibro but recently its on another level. Hard to function and can get very dibilitating. Or is there a link with the fibro?

Members strongly validated concerns about whether fibromyalgia could coexist with ME or MS, or whether severe fatigue is simply part of fibro itself, with many emphasizing that fibro can cause debilitating exhaustion, brain fog, sleep disturbances, and cognitive issues that worsen over time. Several members shared practical insights, including the importance of ruling out MS through brain scans (since symptoms overlap significantly), checking for other causes like iron deficiency or inflammation through blood work, and trying supplements like magnesium or CoQ10 to manage pain and energy levels. A recurring theme was frustration with how fibro is often dismissed as "not that serious" when it can be genuinely disabling, the difficulty of advocating for proper testing and diagnosis, and the growing belief among members that fibro may be hereditary despite medical hesitation to confirm it.

Hi kerrie1,
Welcome and congrats on reaching out. There are a lot of us with the FM syndrome and you are not alone in this suffering.
All the symptoms you describe are related to fibro. There is currently a clinical trial being done in the USA on a blood test that can verify if you have fibro
I do not want to scare you, but there are about 700 symptoms related to fibro. As for the latest question, studies I viewed on the internet, shows that autoimmune disorder (fibro, ME,MS and all) is hereditary gene related, so if your forefathers had it you will get it, and it gets passed on to your offspring (daughters)and their prodigy. My mother passed away 25 years ago with motor-neurone disease, also an autoimmune disorder, and I think I inherited it from her,
All I can say thank you to at this stage is :Thanks for SPELLCHECKER and CALCULATORS.....
I have suddenly become dyslexic and I suppose that is part of the deal, have to overcome it and stay positive.

Namaste and keep faith.

I'm experiencing that, too. Depression that's caused by fibro can certainly do that and did, to me. I described it feeling as if I'd been felled by a tranquilizer dart.

Now, the medications for depression and arthritis are making it so bad that I am considering tapering down though I'll have severe pain and depression again.

Hope this helps.

Oh, and I've found that stress/tension that would have scored 0 or 1 to our old selves, is experienced as a much higher "radiating" or intensive feeling.

the thing is that they tell you fibromyalgia doesn't get worse. while it doesn't kill you directly it does in fact get worse. that doesn't mean it will get so bad you'll be in a wheelchair or bed all the time but for some it means exactly that. you just have to fight against it all. we get treated as if fibromyalgia isn't THAT bad so we tend to question when it IS that bad that maybe we have something "serious". i'm sorry hun but fibromyalgia is very serious. some women have a mild case while others are disabled due to it. nobody can tell you where yours will lead. just keep positive and keep fighting. god bless.
also want to add. if you feel there may be a chance there's something else wrong and you haven't been tested for all of it then go see a doctor. MS and fibromyalgia act the same exact way and only a brain scan can tell you if it's MS or not.

Hi kerrie1, Beth1 & straw34, That is called "Fibrofog", a common symptom of fibromyalgia. I have experienced it getting worse with time. Extreme chronic fatigue is the most common symptom and this is caused by the inability to get a good night's rest,

Kerri they should have tested you for both. These along with Lupus are usual screening tests just to rule them out.
Yes, it could be part of Fibro .It can be very difficult to pin it down as you have to rule out so many other things it could be.
Fibro affects sleep. Chronic fatigue can twin with it. Brain fog and cognitive issues can join in . It's a whole mixed bag of everything going haywire.
