Hi all hope your day is going well. According to all the doctors i have seen they say fibromyalgia is not a progressive illness. Has anyone else been told this? If so do you agree?

Members overwhelmingly disagreed with the medical consensus that fibromyalgia is not progressive, with the vast majority sharing that their symptoms have worsened significantly over time, often bringing new complications like dry eye syndrome, IBS, insomnia, and longer recovery periods from injuries or surgeries. Several members expressed frustration that doctors who do not live with the condition dismiss their lived experiences, noting that flare-ups have become more severe, pain has spread to more areas of the body, and everyday activities that were once manageable have become increasingly difficult or impossible. A recurring theme was the deep need for more research, better diagnostic tools, and greater medical and public awareness of fibromyalgia as a legitimate and often debilitating condition.

Doctors and Rheumatologist have absolutely no idea about Fibromyalgia they still seem to think it is all in our heads.

Myself personally I believe that Fibromyalgia is progressive that it affects more of your body with wide spread pain, as well as causing problems with other areas of your body such as your feet and legs, weakness in your arms and legs, hands and fingers.

Wished there was more research into Fibromyalgia I totally understand that they put more research into different types of Cancers but it would be great to see research into Fibromyalgia and a diagnostic tests for Fibromyalgia.

So very very frustrating indeed.

Fibromyalgia is not considered a progressive disease. Symptoms may grow worse over time, but there is no predictable disease course. Most often, people with fibromyalgia experience disease flares, when symptoms become more severe, and periods of remission, when symptoms lessen or disappear.
My symptoms have definitely worsened over time.

Mine has been progressing to not wanting to do anything at times... i have days when i can do lots, clean, cook, eat, sing, play with my cats and daughter and even dance. To days when i am in no condition to talk even. I am struggling to keep working, it has definetely progressed.
