Along with the usual anxiety and depression, I also have a weak, lightheaded feeling most of the time and have recurring dizzy spells which are usually really quick but severe. I've been through a few doctors and physical therapists and several tests. No real diagnosis from the testing except it was all anxiety induced. The PT diagnosed me with bilateral vestibular hypofunction and I did several tests with her and visual exercises to "re train my brain". I also have balance issues and the⦠read more
I also get dizzy all of the time. It's usually when I haven't eaten enough because of my digestive system. All of us deal with our balance, that's what my Doctor used to test me for fibro. You really can't do anything for it because the nerves can't relay the message right. Also hurting and being stiff doesn't help much either. Try to walk heal to toe in a line and you might find that you can't do it. Also our reflexes are hyperactive.
Clonazapan certainly helps with sleep
I recently had a test done where they record your eye movement as they pump hot and cold water into your ears.. it makes you feel like your spinning and falling!
Interestingly they told me my ears are giving my brain quite different signals .. waiting now to see the consultant..
Please look at the link below, it is about chronic subjective dizziness. I think it will help you to understand what is happening and there are some treatment options.

I had severe chronic dizziness, inbalance caused by chronic anxiety, unfortunately lasted for years and improved very very slowly. I did vestibular exercises, they make perfect sense to retrain, realign our senses, also took low dose antidepressant Citalopram, which I don't think helped but that was the only offered treatment option. Also got 5 mg diazepam for acut dizzines, but I did not take it, since I was dizzy all the time, might help you depending on your symptoms. Good sleep, mindful eating and diet, progressive muscle relaxation and meditation helps. Emotional processing and vestibular system in the brain are connected that is why stress might influence balance. As your anxiety, stress level improves it puts you on the road of recovery.
@A MyFibroTeam Member Thanks! I do the heel to toe exercises and other vestibular retraining exercises. They did help with balance issues but not with the dizziness :(
