A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Fibro has been found to be caused by damage to the central nervous system. The “traffic cop” cells that amplify and forward previously ignored signals from nerve endings to the brain. Researchers are finding other cell damage. Fibro isnt known to have any pattern and isn’t considered fatal but I think the depression and anxiety are badly underated.

I sometimes think the more appropriate word is dormant instead of remission. I have had years in the past when I was younger that every Fibro symptom disappeared... but it came back. I say dormant because that is how viruses behave in our systems. I believe Fibromyalgia is caused by a virus (HSV1) and it can go dormant or rear it's ugly head. I know stress causes it to get worse. My symptoms and my history with it may be totally different from other people's. It is your own journey and you just do the best you can.

I have’t had remission from fibro. Pain is constant although the pain can be worse or lessen.

dfibro🦋, mine has never gone into remission, I know some have and some haven’t. I was diagnosed 12 years ago, and is defineatly progressive.

I've never experienced a pattern of Fibromyalgia pain and symptoms for weeks or months over the many years I've had it. I have found that it can vary from day to day and flare ups can be days, weeks or months. But again, this illness affects everybody differently so your normal with it may not be somebody else's normal.
