Is Constant Sickness A Side Effect Of Stopping Cymbalta?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

My doctor denied me a refill of cymbalta unless I go see her, unfortunately I recently moved 100 miles away and cant make it back to see her and I can't see my new doctor for a month. Now I'm feeling sick everyday and can barely eat I'm wondering if this is at all normal.

Your doctor is responsible to give you a prescription for the time being until you switch over to a new doctor. It is absolutely cruel and unprofessional to deny you from your medication since abrupt discontinuation will cause you acute withdrawal symptoms, unnecessary suffering. Contact her office, explain the situation again . You might try to ask your pharmacy to contact her/his office on your behalf. Primary care physician or any other doctor can prescribe it to you. Under no circumstances should you be cut off cold turkey of cymbalta, depending on how long and how much you used to take your withdrawal symptoms might vary.

How long has it been since you stopped taking cymbalta? It sounds like you are going thru withdrawals. My doctor weaned me off cymbalta but he weaned me too fast....so I started going thru horrible withdrawals. I had to go back on the lowest dose I was on before I stopped taking it. It took 4 months do wean without withdrawals. If you can’t get back on cymbalta, hopefully just being nauseated will be your only withdrawal symptom and it will pass soon 🙏🏼

This is what I found.
Stopping duloxetine abruptly may result in one or more of the following withdrawal symptoms: irritability, nausea, feeling dizzy, vomiting, nightmares, headache, and/or paresthesias (prickling, tingling sensation on the skin). Depression is also a part of bipolar illness.

If you are on Facebook there is a great closed group called “cymbalta hurts worse” maybe they can help with the withdrawals. The best thing is to get back on it ASAP. How lone has it been since you visited your last doctor? Call them and explain your situation, maybe they can prescribe enough to get you thru until you see your new doctor.
