Members resonated deeply with the frustration that fibromyalgia is sometimes used as a catch-all diagnosis when doctors cannot identify clear answers through standard tests, though many emphasized that proper diagnosis requires ruling out other conditions and identifying specific trigger points. Several members shared concerns about the nationwide reduction in pain medication access due to the opioid crisis, describing how chronic pain patients are being denied individualized care while doctors fear losing their licenses, leaving many to rely on alternative methods like TENS machines, hot and cold packs, or lifestyle changes. A recurring theme was the importance of finding compassionate, knowledgeable doctors who take time to understand fibromyalgia's complex nature, with members expressing hope about emerging blood tests and genetic research that may one day lead to better diagnosis and treatment options.

I am part of a study that did a blood test and calculated the severity of my fibro! I understand the test is being looked at by the FDA and is part of a study which, once it verifies that you have fibro, will go on to search for the gene or genes that create this mysterious illness called Fibromyalgia! From there they can develop a cure using the type of genetic meds that is already being used to cure some kinds of cancers. So, I am praying that they can succeed and then we can all feel better~ the sooner the better!

I have always thought so. Some doctors still don't believe it exists.
